Founding and Early Growth: 
Founded in 1961 by Herbert Schulze, a Certified Prosthetist, and Lothar Grade, a Certified Orthotist, Northern Prosthetics & Orthopedic Inc. began in a small storefront in Rockford, Illinois.  The duo's commitment to enhancing functional abilities in patients set the foundation for a company dedicated to exceptional prosthetic and orthotic care.

 Expansion and Development: 
Over the years, the company expanded, moving to a larger location at 2619 Charles St. in 1971. After Lothar Grade's retirement in 1992, Herbert Schulze became the sole proprietor, further solidifying the company's growth and reputation.

 Accreditation and Incorporation: 
In 1999, Northern Prosthetics & Orthopedic Inc. was formally incorporated.

The company is recognized by major boards like the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics and is an accredited residency site for the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education. It's also a member of the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association.
